Graduated from Tokyo University of Fine Arts at 1983, and finished master degree from graduate school of Fine Arts (major in aesthetics) at 1985. Worked as editor of art magazine “Atelier”, and worked as a curator at Nagano Prefectural Art Museum from 1987 to 1991, and as curator, chief curator, and vice director at Fuchu Art Museum from 1991 to 2015. Worked as chief curator at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum from 2015 to now. Specialized fields include modern and contemporary art.
