Columnist and art critic based in Tokyo, where he was born in 1967. Freelance after working as a staff arts writer with The Japan Times.
Since 1995 a Japan correspondent for Flash Art magazine. Writes reviews and essays on contemporary art and society for Japanese and foreign magazines, newspapers, etc., mainly in Japanese and English. Currently a columnist for monthly Gallery magazine in Japan.
Since 2007 an artist nominator for the Sovereign Asian Art Prize. Since 2013 a lecturer on art criticism at the Akita University of Art.
